Your Appointment

What to expect
No two people are alike, and that’s why I take the time to talk with you, to understand what help you need from me as your holistic practitioner.  As a new client, I’ll begin by asking you about your health, to ensure your safety and wellbeing.  In certain serious health cases, such as a heart condition or history of thrombosis, I’ll need to check with your GP to make certain that they have no reservations about you receiving either massage or reflexology.

neck pain can be caused by working at a pc
For your first appointment it’s a good idea to allow yourself up to 15 minutes of extra time.  So for example, if you have a 1 hour appointment starting at 10am, plan on finishing no later than 11.15am.   This is free time, at no extra cost to you – it’s simply there in case you need it.

 After your Appointment
When you’ve had reflexology or massage you may feel certain healing actions in the following 24 hours.  These include feeling thirstier, needing to go to the loo more often, having aching muscles or feeling emotional.  These healing actions are perfectly normal and temporary signs that your body is beginning to balance itself.  After your massage your muscles may feel a little sore or may ache, occasionally for up to 48 hours, as they would do after the gym or exercising.

To look after yourself, I advise that in the 24 hours after your appointment that you:

  • Drink plenty of water to keep hydrated and to flush out lactic acid released from your muscles
  • Avoid alcohol and caffeine as these stimulants make your body work harder when it’s trying to recuperate
  • Eat a light meal that isn’t too rich or heavy to avoid overloading your digestion
  • Avoid exercise; this is particularly important after your massage as it allows your muscles to recover.

It’s a good idea in the days following your appointment to notice any differences that you feel, such as sleeping better, feeling calmer, less tension headaches, better digestion, improved movement and flexibility.

Got the sniffles?
Out of respect and consideration to my other clients, may I please ask that you reschedule your appointment if you have a cold, ‘flu or other infection.  Thank you.
