Reflexology
Can you remember the last time you woke up feeling full of life? Reflexology is a
popular holistic therapy that is ideal for when you
feel as though you are running on empty and are in need of a
'pick-me-up'. It's a wonderfully relaxing
treatment that can help you feel like yourself, once again.

Your reflexology
appointment
Reflexology
works on the principle that every part of our
body has a corresponding point, know as a reflex point, on our feet and
hands. When we are out of balance, fatigued and run-down, these
reflexes can become congested and tender.
To receive your treatment, you take off your shoes and socks and sit or lay down on the treatment couch. First, I cleanse and massage your feet, which helps to prepare you for your treatment. Next, using a light pressure I work every reflex point on both of your feet to ensure that all of your body systems are treated. I make a note of any sensitive or congested reflexes that you may have, which enables me to monitor and share with you the changes that take place during a course of treatments.
The technique that I use is very relaxing and not painful. I do not believe that pain is beneficial to healing, and this is why I have developed a gentle but effective technique. At times, you may feel some slight discomfort if a certain reflex is particularly sensitive. To minimise any potential discomfort, I incorporate foot massage techniques into each treatment.
It is quite common to feel sleepy and even to fall asleep during your treatment and a soft blanket helps to keep you warm and cosy. After your treatment, I let you know what I've felt in your reflexes. I maintain a treatment record so that you can easily see the changes that occur during your course of reflexology treatments.
Frequency of Treatments
General Relaxation and Stress Management
You will find that an appointment frequency from once a week to once a month will be beneficial.
Chronic conditions
A course of six treatments is typically recommended. Ideally, your first 2 appointments should be no more than 2 weeks apart. Afterwards you should leave no more than 4 weeks between your appointments, to ensure that you gain the most from your course of treatments.
Please
be aware that reflexology is not intended to be a replacement for medical
treatment and it does not diagnose illnesses - only your GP can do this.
